Brian
Farber emerged as a true offensive weapon in the 2006-07 season.
He utilized his explosive speed to knock in 22 goals in his
second professional season with the Cougars. His season total of
53 points placed him 14th best in the MISL.
Farber recorded three hat-tricks during the 2006-07 season.
Including a three goal, six point performance against the
Milwaukee Wave on January 27, 2007; and back-to-back hat-tricks
against the Detroit Ignition on back-to-back nights, March 23,
and March 24, 2007. “Farbs” scored four goals and two assists
against the Ignition on March 24, resulting in a career high 10
points scored in the game. The Cougars dominated the Ignition
all season and Farber was a major contributor. He finished the
2006-07 season with 25 points, five assists and four blocks
against Detroit.
Farber’s 2005-06 rookie campaign was almost as impressive as his
second year with the team. He recorded a career high 13 blocks
with six goals and three assists giving him nine total points.
His crowning achievement in the 2005-06 season was amount of
games played. He set a California record with 30 games played in
a season. That record has since been tied by teammate Ryan Hall.
Farber has played in a California uniform more than anyone else
in professional soccer with a total of 56 games played.
A college standout, Farber began his collegiate career at North
Idaho College where he was named the team’s Most Valuable
Offensive Player. Farber currently holds North Idaho College’s
all-time point’s record with 66 and is the first soccer player
from the college to play for a professional team.
A transfer to Oregon State, Farber was a second-team All-Pac-10
selection and played in all 20 games for a Beaver club that
posted a 13-7 record and went to the NCAA playoffs.
He was named the Idaho State High School Player of the Year in
2000 while playing for the Sandpoint High Bulldogs. Farber was
named to the All-State team twice, and to the All-League team
three times. He was awarded the Bulldogs’ “Golden Toe” in 2000.
